What is Gemini?

Gemini is a communication protocol, just like HTTP used by a Web browser, but intentionally designed to be lighter and simpler. Content on Gemini is mostly textual, reminiscent of the early pre-commercialized Web or "reader mode" in some browsers: there are no client-side scripts, ads, popups, or fancy designs.
